Zoe Saldana is set to star in the feature adaptation of Joe Kelly’s graphic novel titled, I Kill Giants.  The novel was adapted by Kelly and the feature will mark the debut for Anders Walter.

The story revolves around Barbara, a young misfit girl who has taken her fantasy life a little far, and is battling both real and imagined monsters.  She’s convinced that giants are real and on their way, and it’s her responsibility to stop them when they show up. Her fantasy life has started seeping into her real life, and as the audience gains a deeper understanding of things from her point of view, we begin to understand that she sees signs in the clouds might be telling her that bad things might be coming

Saldana will play Mrs. Mollé, the school psychologist who helps Barbara through her struggles and forms a tight bond with her as a result.

“I’m thrilled to have the massively talented Zoe helping us bring Joe Kelly’s beautiful story to life.  I couldn’t be more excited to see Mrs. Mollé, a kind, strong and incredibly inspirational character up on the big screen.” – Anders Walter

Up-and-coming actress, Madison Wolfe (True Detective) will also star in the film.

Saldana has been in major blockbuster films such as Star Trek Into Darkness, Guardians of the Galaxy, and most recently starred in the controversial biopic Nina, about around the life of the legendary singer, artist, and activist Nina Simone.

I Kill Giants will begin production in August, and will be produced by Academy Award nominee Chris Columbus through his 1492 Pictures/Ocean Blue Ent, along with Kim Magnusson, Kyle Franke, Man of Action Entertainment, Umedia, and XYZ Films.  London-based Ingenious will finance the film, and XYZ is handling world sales on the project in Cannes.
