Zoe Kravitz has officially joined the cast for the Fantastic Beasts sequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.  In the first installation of the franchise, Kravitz was seen as Leta Lestrange, Newt’s (Eddie Redmayne) former love, but she only appeared in the framed photo he kept of her in his enchanted man cave.  In the upcoming sequel, she will return in a slightky larger role.

According to the director David Yates, “Leta Lestrange comes into the second movie. She’s quite complicated and damaged and confused, and Newt is absolutely still in love with her. So, she has a kind of power over him, and she, yeah, she’s a kind of tragic figure, so we will see a bit more of her in the second movie.”

Kravitz will join a cast including Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, and Ezra Miller.  Johnny Depp will also return in a more prominent role as Gellert Grindelwald, the dark wizard who made a cameo appearance in the first film.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel will hit theaters on November 16, 2018.

Kravitz has starred in major motion picture films such as No Reservations, The Brave One, X-Men: First Class, Dope, and Yelling to the Sky. Last year, she starred in Mad Max: Fury Road, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and recently returned to her role as Christina in The Divergent Series: Allegiant, the third movie in the franchise. Kravitz is also set to star opposite Kate McKinnon and Scarlett Johansson in the comedy Rock That Body.  She is also set to star in feature thriller, Gemini, alongside John Cho, and will star in the sci-fi action thriller Kin, directed by Jonathan and Josh Baker.
