Zendaya’s star continues to rise as she is quickly becoming one of the most sought after actresses in Hollywood.  With an expansive list of movies on her roster, it has been reported that the actress has signed on to star in the adaptation of the book, Running a Thousand Miles for Freedom: Or, the Escape of William and Ellen Craft from Slavery.

The story takes place in 1848, when William and Ellen Craft made one of the most dangerous escapes in the history of slavery in America. Fair-skinned Ellen disguised herself as a white male planter, with William posing as her servant. The Crafts then traveled by train  and ship out in the open and in comfortable accommodations. The trip took them from the slave state of Macon, Georgia, to free areas in Philadelphia, then Boston, and finally England.

Not much else is currently known of the project, but, it was in development at Alloy Entertainment and Alloy Features in 2016, with Suzanne Allain set to write script.

Recently Zendaya appeared in The Greatest Showman and Spider Man: Homecoming, and she also landed a role as the lead in the upcoming HBO drama Euphoria where she will play Rue, a teenager with a substance abuse problem.
