Young & Hungry’s fifth season at Freeform is on the horizon and right before it drops, the cable network has announced an order of additional episodes to air later this year! The backorder will bring the total episodes of the season to 20, much like its second season.
The sitcom, created by David Holden and executive produced by Ashley Tisdale, follows wealthy entrepreneur Josh (Jonathan Sadowski) who decides to hire food blogger Gabi (Emily Osment) as his personal chef. The series follows Gabi and Josh and their friends (including Kym Whitley) after the couple’s one-night stand.
Whitley portrays Yolanda, Josh’s loud-spoken housekeeper. Her character was the first to find out about the couple’s hookup, which gradually turns into numerous attempts to forge a romantic relationship of which concluded into a “friends with benefits” decision at the end of Season 4. This point is where we leave off as we prepare for Season 5, with the group of friends disappointed in their decision and Gabi/Josh’s attempts to maintain a normal relationship with their new situation.
Whitley brings her sassy appeal to the series and has a long history of fun roles, best-known for Animal Practice, The Boondocks, and The Parkers. Whitley was nominated for a 2004 BET Comedy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Box Office Movie for her role as Ormandy in the 2003 comedy film Deliver Us From Eva.
