Ava DuVernay recently wrapped filming of her much-anticipated Wrinkle In Time this past Sunday! She shared the milestone via social media with a jubilant tweet:

DuVernay then followed with multiple photos featuring behind-the-scenes stills of the cast and crew via her Twitter account @ava. She has been taking us along for the ride by sharing multiple aspects of productions via social media by implementing famous memes such as the Mannequin Challenge (in which she brilliantly incorporated to announce the film’s release date) and posting live updates on Instagram Stories.

Based on the 1962 novel of the same name by Madeleine L’Engle, the film stars Storm Reid, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peña, Zach Galifianakis, and Oprah Winfrey. Wrinkle In Time revolves around a young girl whose father, a government scientist, has gone missing after working on a mysterious project called a tesseract. The 2018 adaptation comes from Walt Disney Pictures and principal photography began in November 2016, in which DuVernay traveled to New Zealand. With the project, she became the first Black female director to helm a $100 million film.

Of course we’re excited to see the film and extra excited to see it through DuVernay’s masterful eye! Wrinkle In Time will hit theaters April 6, 2018.
