Over the past few years, there has been some debate at the Emmys as to whether Orange Is the New Black is a comedy or a drama. The new trailer for the show’s fourth season suggests that the Netflix series falls clearly into the latter category.
Netflix has officially released the season 5 trailer for Orange is the New Black, and it’s filled with darkness and insanity just as we hoped it would be. The trailer shows the outraged women of Litchfield Penitentiary joining together to protest the abusive conditions at the prison on the heels of Poussey (Samira Wiley)’s death at the end of season 4. It’s evident that the Litchfield ladies ready to fight for justice and willing to go to any lengths to achieve it.
The almost two-and-a-half minute trailer shows how by working together, every single one of the inmates can earn a better life, but can the women, who live their lives behind bars separated by race, really come together and make change happen? We’ll have to wait and see.
We are looking forward to seeing what this new season has in store!
Orange Is the New Black will debut the entire fifth season on Tuesday, May 9th on Netflix! Check out the intense sneak peek above!
