During upfronts in Manhattan, Freeform debuted trailers for its upcoming trio of series, including Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger. The pilot for the Marvel show will be directed by the amazing Gina Prince-Bythewood (Shots Fired)!
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger follows the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, James Saito and J.D. Evermore co-star in the series for which Freeform has ordered 10 one-hour episodes slated to debut early 2018.
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios with Joe Pokaski (Underground, Heroes) serving as showrunner and executive producer. Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s The Punisher, Marvel’s The Defenders) and Jim Chory (Marvel’s The Punisher, Marvel’s The Defenders) will also serve as executive producers.
The trailer looks fantastic and we look forward to the Prince-Bythewood helmed pilot!
Prince-Bythewood is the executive producers of Shots Fired, a 10-hour event series for Fox, Imagine Television and Undisputed Cinema starring Sanaa Lathan and Aisha Hinds. Prince-Bythewood is also set to direct An Untamed State, an adaptation of Roxane Gay’s debut novel for Fox Searchlight.
