WATCH: Marvel’s Groundbreaking ‘Black Panther’ Trailer

The highly anticipated trailer for Marvel’s Black Panther was released today, and it is everything that we could have imagined and more!  Set to the score of Gil Scott-Heron’s “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” the trailer is truly a sight to behold.

Chadwick Boseman returns as T’Challa, aka Black Panther, the prince-turned-king-turned-superhero, who made his debut in last year’s Captain America: Civil War.

Black Panther takes place in the the technologically advanced African nation Wakanda.  T’Challa (Boseman) is now king of Wakanda following the death of his father, T’Chaka (John Kani), but there’s no time for orientation. Threats from inside Wakanda and out have little sympathy that he’s a newcomer both to the throne and the Avengers, so T’Challa has to figure out, in the words of fighter Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), “what kind of king [he is] going to be.”

Black Panther, created by Stan Lee, first appeared in a Marvel comic in 1966 (just before the naming of the Black Panther Party), making him the first black superhero in mainstream comics. Black Panther the movie, directed by Ryan Coogler, will be the first Marvel movie with a predominately black cast.

Not only does this trailer take us to peak levels of excitement, it serves as a reminder of the movie’s unbelievable cast bringing together Chadwick Boseman, Florence Kasumba, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Forest Whitaker, Phylicia Rashad, Angela Basset, Letitia Wright, and Daniel Kaluuya.

Black Panther is set to hit theaters on February 16, 2018!  Let the countdown begin!
