WATCH: Gina Prince-Bythewood Talks About Upcoming Marvel Series ‘Cloak & Dagger’

SYFY FANGRRLS recently spoke with executive producer and pilot director Gina Prince-Bythewood, executive producer Jeph Loeb, and executive producer and showrunner Joe Pokaski, about the new Marvel drama Cloak and Dagger. Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy (Olivia Holt), a young woman who has lost everything, and Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph), a young man trying to recover from a tragedy in his past. They discover that they have special abilities that are more powerful when they’re together.

Loeb and Pokakski greatly praised Prince-Blythewood for skills that brought to the production of show and all of the creators were very high on Holt and Joseph as being two very talented, engaging leads. “The best thing is we wanted to watch them all day, we didn’t want the improv to end,” said Prince-Blythewood.

They also discuss how Cloak and Dagger represents a new form of storytelling in the Marvel universe as a coming-of-age tale, which “reflects the uncertainty of growing up in America today.”  New Orleans was also mentioned, as it plays a big part as the setting for the show, with Prince-Bythewood discussing how she used the architecture and character of the city to enhance the quality of the visuals.
