Vivica Fox (Vivica A. Fox) has been cast n the sci-fi film Crossbreed in the role of the President of the United States.  According to Mashable, this is the first time a black woman has played a U.S. president in a live-action film.

The film revolves around a group of retired military war heroes who are sent to retrieve an extraterrestrial being from an illegal Medical Facility using its DNA to manufacture weapons.  Fox will play the President, who was a colleague of the team leader and handpicked him to lead the retrieval mission.

Brandon Slagle will direct the Jaguar Motion Pictures film alongside Donna and John Kopp who will serve as executive producers.

Fox has had guest star roles on Law & Order, Drop Dead Diva, Melissa & Joey and Raising Hope. She was a regular on the syndicated series Mr. Box Office alongside Bill Bellamy.  Most recently she was cast as Cookie Lyon’s sister in the second season of the Fox series, Empire.  Last month, she reprised her Independence Day role in Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day: Resurgence, and was recently cast to star in the independent film Kinky written and directed by Jean Claude LaMarre.
