This year’s Savannah College of Art and Design’s (SCAD) 2017 aTVfest will feature WGN America’s hit series, Underground with exclusive first looks, extended sneak peeks, and behind-the-scenes footage of its upcoming second season on February 2, 2017.  The cast of the series including Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, and Christopher Meloni will also be honored with the festival’s annual CAST AWARD for outstanding contributions to the art of television.

aTVfest celebrates film and television luminaries and draws in industry-leading producers, directors, writers, and actors to the college’s venues annually in midtown Atlanta. Stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Amirah Vann, and Aisha Hinds are set to appear alongside co-creator and executive producer Misha Green. President and General Manager of WGN America and Tribune Studios, Matt Cherniss expressed his excitement with the honor stating, “‘Underground’ is a story of heroes whose fight for freedom still inspires us today and we are privileged to be able to share our story at this year’s aTVfest.”

SCAD’s aTVfest’s Artistic Director Christina Routhier echoed his sentiments, “This series about pre-Civl War slavery and the escape to freedom in the north, boasts an engaging cast and a captivating storyline, worthy of recognition for its outstanding contributions to the art of television.”

WGN America’s “Underground” – Thursday, February 2 (8:30PM/SCADshow Theater in Atlanta)

aTVfest attendees will get an exclusive first look at season two of WGN America’s critically acclaimed hit series Underground. Scenes from the trailblazing Underground Railroad thriller, filmed on location in Savannah, Georgia, will be unveiled, offering a sneak peek at how the epic journey continues. The panel will include a discussion and audience Q&A with the cast members Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge and Amirah Vann, and co-creator and executive producer Misha Green, among others. Produced by Sony Pictures Television, season two of “Underground” will premiere in early 2017.
