The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) will present it’s 17th year April 18-29, 2018.  The annual festival takes place in New York and will begin accepting submissions on September 5th.

TFF was founded in 2002 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff in efforts to contribute to the revitalization of lower Manhattan after the 9/11 attacks.  Since then, TFF has grown at a remarkable pace and celebrates the power of films that come from all over the world.  The 2018 Festival will continue the momentum from last year’s fest, which saw record setting attendance numbers and garnered its highest percentage of film sales to distributors. Highlights from previous festivals include filmmakers and content creators such as Janicza Bravo, Christine Turner, Priscilla Anany and a host of world premieres.

In addition to film, Tribeca has expanded to TV and other facets of media. Last year, TFF and AT&T teamed up to launch a new film initiative titled, AT&T Presents: Untold Stories.  This initiative provided funding of up to $1 million for 1 talented filmmaker to create his or her film, and Tribeca will provided mentorship from seasoned industry professionals. The winning film was distributed across several of its video platforms, including DIRECTV NOW, AT&T’s streaming over-the-top service.

“Following a banner year that saw record high submissions across all of our festival programs, it’s clear there is more exciting work being created in more different ways and on more different platforms than ever before,” said Tribeca Director of Programming Cara Cusumano.

Mark your calendars!  Submissions will open September 5 for all sections of the Festival – feature and short films, TV, Immersive, N.O.W. (New Online Work) and the Tribeca X Award. Filmmakers can submit a film for consideration via Withoutabox at and VR, episodic, online storytelling, and branded storytelling can be submitted directly to
