Girls Trip co-writer Tracy Oliver has received a 10-episode series order for Paramount’s upcoming First Wives Club television series!

The project is based on the popular 1996 film from Paramount Pictures which starred Diane Keaton, Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn.  The series will be based in New York City, and will follow a group of women who band together after their marriages fall apart, and who find strength in their sisterhood — and of course a little revenge.

First Wives Club TV series reboot was originally developed TV Land ,where it was picked up to pilot.  When TV Land passed, the project was moved to Paramount Network, and Oliver was brought in to write a new script.

“Tracy Oliver is a brilliant writer and the perfect visionary to bring this unforgettable story from the big screen to the small screen in a fresh and contemporary way,” said Keith Cox, President, Development and Production, Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT.

Girls Trip was one of the funniest comedies in recent memory and we know Tracy will breathe new life, and some serious laughs, into these beloved First Wives Club characters,” said Amy Powell, President of Paramount TV.

The cast for the reboot has yet to be announced; however, can you imagine First Wives Club starring the cast of Girls Tripwith Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Queen Latifah, and Tiffany Haddish? How amazing would that be!?

Oliver was the writer of Barbershop: The Next Cut, wrote, produced and starred in The Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl, and was the writer of the critically acclaimed comedy Girls Trip for Universal Pictures where she became the first African-American female screenwriter to write a film that crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic box office. She is currently developing the Misty Copeland dance drama for 2oth Century Fox Television, and is writing the film adaption of Nicola Yoon’s best selling YA novel, The Sun Is Also A Star.
