Tidal and Sprint are releasing an exclusive film starring Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danny Glover called 4:44. Tidal aired an ad during the NBA finals revealing the project, which has been teased around the web through enigmatic ads.

Very few details have been provided about 4:44. The film is NC-17; the black-and-white trailer features Mahershala Ali wailing on a punching bag in a slow-mo training montage.

Is it a short film? A feature? A documentary? A prequel to the upcoming Rihanna-Lupita heist film we have no idea what type of film it is nor do we know what it will be about, but earlier this week people were thinking the 4:44 billboards in New York City were premonitions of a surprise record drop from Jay-Z.

The partnership with Sprint on the film is not surprising, considering the fact that the company bought a 33 percent stake in Tidal in January. At the time, Sprint said the deal would give its subscribers “unlimited access to exclusive artist content not available anywhere else.”

There’s no release date for the movie, but it definitely has us all anxious and excited!
