The CW has announced an early Season 2 renewal of Riverdale, only six weeks into its first season! It is the first freshman show at The CW to get a renewal.
Riverdale is based on the characters from Archie Comics and stars KJ Apa (as Archie), Lili Reinhart (as Betty), Camila Mendes (as Veronica), Cole Sprouse (as Jughead), and Madelaine Petsch (as Cheryl Blossom). Ashleigh Murray (previously of The Following) portrays Josephine “Josie” McCoy, a competitive, fierce, snooty, and ambitious girl who is the lead singer for the popular band Josie and the Pussycats.
The comic book dramatic adaptation pulled Live Same Day ratings with an average of 1.16 million viewers, 0.4 in adults 18-49 on Thursday night and have excelled in delayed and digital viewing, particularly in the young demos. It has been growing 78% in adults 18-34 and 85% in women 18-34 in Live+7 day ratings over L+SD and is quickly becoming one of the CW’s most streamed shows on the network’s digital platforms.
Before joining Riverdale, Murray worked on the WB’s The Following and appeared in two episodes of TVLand’s Younger. Great news for Murray as she’ll continue to shine as the ever popular Josie!
