WATCH: ‘The Creed’ Trailer Starring Yolanda Ross Written & Directed by Stacey Muhammad

In upcoming indie drama The Creed, filmmaker Stacey Muhammad chronicles the life of a grieving couple who struggles to cope with the death of their 15 year old son while contemplating taking justice into their own hands.  The film will star powerhouse actress Yolanda Ross (The Get Down, The Chi), and Akintola Jay.

Muhammad is a longtime activist and award winning filmmaker. Her films include: A Glimpse of Heaven, The Legacy of the Million Man March, I AM SEAN BELL, black boys speak, Out of Our Right Minds, Trauma, Depression and the Black Woman, and RITES. She is also creator / writer and director of the critically acclaimed For Colored Boys series.  Muhammad also recently worked as a producer on the award winning What’s At Stake news program for BET producing segments on Ferguson, violence and youth issues.  In addition to her numerous projects, she is also working on her first feature film, Finding Forever, executive produced by Marc Lamont Hill and Karyn White with Karyn also co-starring with newcomer, Travis Cure.

Ross is a seasoned actress who co-starred alongside Lisa Gay Hamilton in the critically acclaimed 2013 independent drama film, Go for Sisters and received an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female nomination for her performance in film.  She played opposite Viola Davis in Lila & Eve, and played Robyn Crawford, the friend, and reported girlfriend of Whitney Houston, in the Lifetime movie, Whitney directed by Angela Bassett.  Most recently Ross starred on Netflix’s The Get Down and HBO’s TremeShe is also set to star in the upcoming Showtime drama The Chi.
