STX Entertainment has partnered with Amazon Studios and Lionsgate for feature film Café Society starring Thandie Newton alongside David Oyelowo, Joel Edgerton, Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron, Yul Vazquez and Sharlto Copley.

The film revolves around a businessman (Oyelowo) who seems to be living the American dream with a new wife and a stake in a pharmaceutical company that’s about to go public. Then everything falls apart, and he ends up stranded south of the border as a wanted man, and discovers that his seemingly perfect life is not at all what it seemed to be.

Newton has starred in films such as The Pursuit of Happiness, Norbit, and portrayed U.S. National Security Advisor-turned Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in W., Oliver Stone’s film biography of President Bush.  She given powerful speeches across the globe including a TED talk in 2011, and some of her more recent films include Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds and Half of a Yellow Sun.

Matt Stone wrote the script for the film, which is currently in production in Mexico City. STX will be responsible for international sales on the film in Cannes.  Amazon Studios, Nash Edgerton, Rebecca Yeldham, Anthony Tambakis, A.J. Dix and Beth Kono are producing alongside Trish Hofmann who will executive produce.
