Fresh off of Kanye West’s latest music video Fade, Teyana Taylor has landed two new television roles with VH1.  The actress and music recording artist will join the network’s hip hop drama series The Breaks in a recurring role, and will also appear on the game show Hip Hop Squares.

The Breaks is a follow up to VH1’s original film which aired in January of this year, and focuses on three young friends in New York City fulfilling their dreams in hip hop music during the early 1990’s. Set to premier in 2017, the series was inspired by The Big Payback, a narrative history of the hip hop business written by journalist Dan Charnas, and will be executive produced by Seith Mann (The Wire) and John J. Strauss (Mozart in the Jungle).

Taylor will join cast mates Afton Willamson, Wood Harris, Mack Wilds, Antoine Harris, David Call, Evan Handler, Melonie Diaz, Sinqua Walls and Ali Ahn.

VH1’s Hip Hop Squares, produced by rapper/actor Ice- Cube, tests the pop culture knowledge of celebrity contestants and will air later this fall.

Taylor’s credits include Brotherly Love, Madea’s Big Happy Family and MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew: All Stars.
