Tessa Thompson (Creed, Dear White People) is set to lead in the upcoming indie film, Little Woods!  The film marks Nia DaCosta’s directorial debut, and is produced by Rachael Fung and Gabrielle Nadig.

Little Woods is described as a “modern Western.” Thompson, along with Lily James (Cinderella) — who portrays her sister, Deb — portrays Ollie as she and Deb are pushed to work outside the law to better their lives. Ollie had illicitly assisted the struggling oil town North Dakota residents to obtain access to Canadian health care and medication. She is then chased by authorities, so she attempts to abandon her plight; however, gets dragged even deeper as she’s faced with a desperate plea of help from Deb.

Thompson is certainly a rising star who has been on our radar for quite some time now, and quickly developing a track record for being cast to very dynamic and diverse roles. She most recently appeared in HBO’s Westworld, and is set to appear in Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok as well as Alex Garland’s sci-fi film, Annihilation, opposite Natalie Portman.
