Tawny Newsome has officially joined BET’s new scripted series The Comedy Get Down.

The Comedy Get Down is a half-hour mockumentary-style scripted series that follows five of America’s most popular and razor sharp comics as they open up their lives to viewers on the road, on stage, and off the record.  The audience will have the opportunity to see what really happens behind the scenes of a massive stand-up comedy tour.

Newsome will play Nina, a whip-smart, tough and organized tour road manager to the comedians.  She joins a cast including George Lopez, D.L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin and Charlie Murphy.  The series will culminate in an all-star stand-up comedy special.

Brad Wollack and Tom Brunelle will serve as executive producers.

Most recently, Newsome played the social media-obsessed realtor Chelsie Leight-Leight on the Seeso original comedy series Bajillion Dollar Propertie$. Her other TV credits include Comedy Bang Bang, 2 Broke Girls and Sirens.
