Storm Reid (12 Years a Slave) is currently in negotiations to star in Ava DuVernay’s Disney adaptation of the 1963 Newbery Medal-winning Madeleine L’Engle fantasy novel A Wrinkle in Time.   Reid will join an all-star cast including Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling.  Reid will play the oldest daughter among the children.

A Wrinkle In Time revolves around a young girl whose government scientist father has gone missing after working on a mysterious project called a ‘tesseract,’ which involves being transported to a fifth dimension with mysterious inhabited planets. She takes part in a search for her father and sees some incredible creatures along the way. Winfrey will play the role of Mrs. Which, the most mysterious of the three unusual beings who arrive to help Meg and Charles Wallace find their missing father.

Oscar-winning Frozen writer and co-director Jennifer Lee wrote the script, and production is scheduled to begin this fall.

Reid made her film debut in 12 Years a Slave and has since gone on to book a role in the made for TV movie American Girl: Lea to the Rescue.  She also participated in the Sundance sci-fi pic Sleight which opens next April nationwide.
