Shondaland will be heating up the summer as Still Star-Crossed has finally confirmed a premiere date on ABC! This network announced on Thursday that the new Shondaland drama will launch on May 29. From executive producer Shonda Rhimes and ABC Studios, the legendary romance drama was originally supposed to debut midseason 2017. It was picked up to series by the network last May.

Still Star-Crossed picks up where the famous story of “Romeo and Juliet” ends, charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate. The series is based on the book of the same name by Melinda Taub.

The Shondaland romance tale was developed for television by Heather Mitchell, who serves as the writer and executive producer. Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Mark Wilding and Michael Goldstein are executive producers. Michael Offer is also an executive producer and director of the pilot. It stars Grant Bowler, Wade Briggs, Torrance Coombs, Dan Hildebrand, Lashana Lynch, Ebonee Noel, Medalion Rahimi, Zuleikha Robinson, Sterling Sulieman, Susan Wooldridge, and Anthony Head.

Lynch made her film debut in the 2011 drama film Fast Girls. She later co-starred in the BBC television film The 7.39. On television, she has appeared in Silent Witness, Death in Paradise, and was a regular cast member on the short-lived BBC comedy Crims in 2015.

Still Star-Crossed premieres on Monday, May 29 at 10/9c on ABC.
