For the past 34 years, the Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors Annual Awards Dinner has celebrated executives, writers, producers, and directors who have achieved great heights in the film and television industry. The award ceremony will be hosted by actor James Pickens (Grey’s Anatomy) and Charissa Thompson (Extra), and will take place on December 1st in Los Angeles, California.

This year the Caucus will honor Dear White People Executive Producer Stephanie Allain with the Chair’s Award. Previous recipients of this award include Jon Cassar, the director of the Fox series 24 and film/tv producer Suzanne de Passe. In addition to Allain, Michael T. Fries (CEO, Liberty Global) will be presented the Executive of the Year Award, Roy Price (Amazon Studios) with the New Visions Award, Kevin Bright (Friends) will receive the Caucus Lifetime Achievement Award and Frank Chindamo (Founder, Fun Little Movies) will be presented the Caucus Distinguished Service Award.

Allain is a seasoned producer who has been working in Hollywood for over two decades.  She was the studio executive behind classic films in the 90’s such as Boyz in the Hood and Poetic Justice. She then went on to produce films such as Hustle & Flow, Something New starring Sanaa Lathan, Dear White People, and most recently produced Beyond the Lights directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.  This spring Allain wrapped production on the Hulu digital pilot Crushed, a series revolving around a black family as they find success in the winemaking business in Napa, California, and is currently the executive producer of Justin Simen’s upcoming Netflix series Dear White People.  Allain will be producing Underground starring Alfre Woodard through her production company Homegrown Pictures, and is attached to the upcoming Misty Copeland biopic Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina.
