Universal Pictures has acquired an original spec by Stella Meghie (Everything, Everything) titled The Photograph.

The spec is a generational story about love and family, which Meghie will direct and executive produce. Will Packer is set to produce alongside James Lopez.

Meghie started her career in entertainment after making the decision to leave the fashion and beauty industry to pursue her passion in screenwriting.  In 2010, she attended The University of Westminster, and during her first year wrote the first draft of the semi-autobiographical feature Jean of the Joneses. The screenplay wound up winning the 2012 Showtime Tony Cox Feature Film Screenplay Competition, and Meghie earned a joint fellowship between Tribeca and Canadian Film Centre in 2014.

Her first feature length film, Jean of the Joneses, was acquired by TV One, and she currently has a blind script deal at Warner Bros., a pilot in development with John Wells Productions, a comedy optioned by BET titled Funny Woman (a rom-com about trying to remain friends with your ex while looking for new love), and a deal to pen a feature script for VH1, which is being produced by Alicia Keys’ production company AK Worldwide.  Meghie is also a Showtime Tony Cox Award recipient, most recently directed the MGM film adaptation of Nicola Yoon’s debut novel titled Everything, Everything starring Amadla Stenberg.  Everything, Everything grossed $61 million at the worldwide box office on a $10 million production budget.
