Star, the music-drama created by Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy, has been picked up for a second season by Fox! The series follows three singers portrayed by Ryan Destiny, Brittany O’Grady, and Jude Demorest who journey to Atlanta, hoping to become music stars.

Not unlike Daniels’ other hit series, Empire, Star features original music and also stars Queen Latifah as the trio’s surrogate mother and Benjamin Bratt as a talent agent.

Fox’s president of entertainment, David Madden was excited about the renewal via his statement, “Lee Daniels is a true visionary and he and Tom Donaghy have delivered the series with a unique and meaningful point of view. Our incredible cast, led by Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt, instantly infused their characters with tremendous depth and passion, and the show has proved to be both powerful and really entertaining. We are thrilled that this Star will continue to shine for a second season.”

There are four more episodes left in Star’s introductory season. Upcoming special guest appearances will include Naomi Campbell, Big Boi, Rickey Smiley, Missy Elliott, and Paris Jackson.

Star airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.
