Lifetime has officially greenlit The Simone Biles Story (working title).  The biopic revolves around Olympic gold medal gymnast Simone Biles.

Based on her book, Courage To Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance, the biopic follows Simone Biles through her sacrifices and hard work that lead her to win 19 Olympic and World Championship medals and cemented her stake as one of the greatest gymnasts of all-time. Biles’ journey from foster care to the Olympic podium is full of life experiences that serve as an inspiration for every little girl with a dream. It’s slated for premiere in 2018.

Biles is the most decorated American gymnast, taking over from Shannon Miller, who had held this record since 1993.  She is the 2016 Olympic individual all-around, vault and floor gold medalist, and was part of the gold medal-winning team dubbed the “Final Five” at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.  She also won the bronze medal for the balance beam during the Olympics. Biles is a three-time world all-around champion (2013–15), three-time world floor champion (2013–15), two-time world balance beam champion (2014, 2015), four-time United States national all-around champion (2013–16), and a member of the gold medal-winning American teams at the 2014 and 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

Written by Kelly Fullerton, The Simone Biles Story (working title) is executive produced by Howard Braunstein, Simone Biles, Janey Miller and Kyell Thomas for Octagon.

In addition to this biopic, Flint, starring and executive produced by Queen Latifah, about the Flint, Michigan water crisis, premieres on Lifetime on October 28th.
