Shonda Rhimes has received a greenlight from ABC for a brand new Shondaland series.  Still Star-Crossed has received a series order for the 2016-2017 season, and her newest show The Catch has been renewed for a second season.  This series order will make the fifth drama on ABC for Rhimes.

Still Star-Crossed is based on Melinda Taub’s book of the same name, and just recently wrapped production in Spain.  This marks the first period drama from the super producer, and picks up where the story of Romeo and Juliet ends, by following the ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets after the tragic fate of the star-crossed lovers.

The series stars Clara Rugaard (as Juliet), Anthony Head, Lashana Lynch, Zuleikha Robinson, Medalion Rahimi, Ebonee Noel, Torrance Coombs, Wade Briggs, Medalion Rahimi, Ebonee Noel, Sterling Sulieman, Dan Hildebrand, Susan Woolridge and Grant Bowler

Still Star-Crossed was written by Heather Mitchell (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal), and Michael Offer directed the pilot.
In addition to the five shows under the Shondaland banner (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, The Catch, Still Star-Crossed) Rhimes is also in development on her first comedy pilot Toast starring Jerrika Hinton.
