Writers and aspiring writers, this is the perfect opportunity to learn to write a television pilot from the queen who runs the world through television, Shonda Rhimes.  Rhimes will be teaching an online Master Class in 2017 covering all aspects of television writing.  Topics will range from crafting a pilot to running a show.

“I don’t believe in the phrase ‘aspiring writer.’  To me if you are a writer go write.  This is a moment in television right now.  Even if you have 5 kids and work a job, you can find 10 minutes a day to write something down.  If you can write, and people can find your script, they will be thrilled to have it.  If you can think of anything else you want to be almost as much as being a television writer, go be it. If you can’t think of anything else, then welcome….You are one of us.  You are of our people, and I cannot wait to meet you.” – Shonda Rhimes

For $90, Rhimes will take students through more than five hours of lessons, teaching them how to craft a script, sell a pilot, and run a writers’ room.  Throughout the course, Rhimes will teach writers her playbook for writing and creating hit television shows, and she will include her story bibles, pilot scripts and Grey’s Anatomy pitch notes as exclusive content.

You can sign up for Rhimes’ course on the MasterClass website.  It seems as if this could certainly be money well-spent!

Rhimes, will have five series on ABC in the 2016-17 winter broadcast season: Grey’sAnatomyScandalHow to Get Away With Murder, The Catch, and the latest addition Still Star-Crossed.  She is also in development on her first comedy pilot Toast starring Jerrika Hinton.  In addition to her existing ABC lineup, Rhimes received a pilot production commitment from ABC for a new legal series currently slated for next season.  She is also in negotiations with Fox 2000 for an upcoming film revolving around the online personalities known as The Dare Divas, and teamed up with Jesse Williams, Norman Lear, and Common to produce the powerful docu-series titled American Divided.
