The International Television Academy of Television Arts & Sciences stated that the prolific show runner/creator, Shonda Rhimes, would be honored with it’s International Emmy Founders Award in New York on November 21st.

“I am continually amazed by the global reach of television and have been so fortunate to have fans of my shows around the world.  To be recognized for this by the International Television Academy is truly an honor.” – Shonda Rhimes

ABC programmed its entire Thursday prime time lineup with dramas from Rhimes including  Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and Grey’s Anatomy, then branded the night as “Thank God It’s Thursday” (or “TGIT”).  All were picked up for their sixth, third and thirteenth seasons, and will air during the 2016-2017 season.  The latest addition to the Shondaland Thursday night line up, The Catch, made it’s television debut on March 24th.

“Shonda Rhimes is in a league of her own. Not only does she have an entire night of primetime on ABC in the United States, but her groundbreaking shows and iconic characters are avidly followed by over 300 million viewers worldwide, in 67 languages.”  – Bruce Paisner,  Academy President/CEO

Rhimes made history as the first African American woman to create and executive produce a Top 10 network series with hit prime time show Grey’s Anatomy, and we have a feeling that she is just getting started.  Be Inspired!
