Sharon Leal has joined the cast of CBS’ latest series Instinct as a series regular.  Leal will star oppositeAlan Cumming and Bojana Novakovic.

Written by Michael Rauch based on the upcoming book by James Patterson, Instinct follows Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming), a former CIA operative who is lured back to his old life by tenacious NYPD Detective Lizzie Needham (Novakovic) when she needs his help to stop a serial killer. Leal will play a friend of Lizzie’s who recently has been promoted to be their boss in the department.

Leal will play a reconceived character which was originally played by Khandi Alexander in the pilot who is leaving the project.

Instinct, is set for a midseason premiere.

Before landing the lead in the CBS Jenny Lumet drama pilot, Leal did stints on Supergirl and Hellcats. In features, she is known for her roles in Dreamgirls, Why Did I Get Married? and Addicted and will next be seen in Netflix’s Amateur.

Over the past decade, Leal has starred in films such as the adaptation of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls, This Christmas and in the Tyler Perry production Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too.  Most recently she starred in the Freeform (ABC Family) series Revolution Road, and was cast in CW superhero series Supergirl as one of newest additions to the DC television universe.
