Robin Givens has joined the cast of CW’s Riverdale, the network’s adaptation of the classic Archie Comics, and will play the role of Mayor Sierra McCoy.

Set in present day, Riverdale is a surprising and subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life, and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.

Given’s character McCoy is not only the powerful and fabulous Mayor of Riverdale, but also the mother of soon-to-be-world-famous Josie, of Josie & The Pussycats fame. Chic and driven, Mayor McCoy is struggling to guide Riverdale through the crisis precipitated by the mysterious death of Jason Blossom, all while making sure the town’s upcoming 75th Jubilee Celebration goes off without a hitch.

The Riverdale cast includes KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Sarah Habel as Ms. Grundy, Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Mädchen Amick as Alice Cooper, and Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge.

The series is from Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, in association with Berlanti Productions, with executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Jon Goldwater.  It will premiere mid-season on The CW.

Givens’ acting career has spanned over two decades, and has starred in hit classics such as BoomerangHead of the ClassBlankman, and the 2013 remake of 90210.  Most recently Givens guest-starred on Fox’s Lucifer.
