Rihanna Joins Female Driven ‘Ocean’s 8’ HBR Media Team August 10, 2016 Film R&B artist Rihanna will officially be joining the Warner Bros film, Ocean’s 8 alongside Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina. The final lead cast member has yet to be announced. This film will be a female driven reboot of Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s 11 trilogy, and Gary Ross (Hunger Games) is set to direct this fall. Many of the details pertaining to this project are still under wraps; however, Ross plans on maintaining the same tone as Soderbergh’s original trilogy. “We’re different filmmakers, obviously, so there will be those differences, but one of the things I’m drawn to is the amazing tone Steven was able to create, and we discuss that a lot. We discuss the cinema a lot, the shooting style, the rhythm, the editing style, and the music. We discuss it all. I’m in no way trying to reinvent the tone, and I’m thrilled and honored to be extending it. It’s really fun to work with.” – Gary Ross The script was penned by Ross and Olivia Milch. Susan Ekins will serve as xecutive producer and SVP of production, Jesse Ehrman, will oversee the film with Greg Silverman for Warner Bros. Rihanna recently wrapped production on the Luc Besson directed Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and she starred in Peter Berg’s Battleship in 2012. Comments comments
