Regina Hall is set to star in the untitled “Girl Trip Project” to be produced by Will Packer and directed by Malcolm D. Lee (Barbershop: The Next Cut, Best Man Holiday). The film is currently set up at Universal Pictures and will be written by Kenya Barris (Black-ish) and Tracy Oliver (Barbershop: The Next Cut).
The untitled “Girl Trip Project” is about four lifelong friends who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival and rediscover their sisterhoods and wild sides with enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.
Hall has starred in several films over the course of her career that spans nearly two decades. She has been in films such as Disappearing Acts and Love and Basketball alongside Sanaa Lathan, and also starred in the entire Scary Movie franchise. Hall and Packer have worked together on films such as Think Like a Man, Think Like a Man Too, and About Last Night where she went toe to toe with Kevin Hart in every single scene. She has also teamed up with Lee plenty of times on films such as Barbershop: The Next Cut, The Best Man and The Best Man Holiday.
Hall will next be seen opposite her Best Man colleague, Morris Chestnut in the Screen Gems thriller When The Bough Breaks which hits theater September 16th.
James Lopez, head of motion pictures for Will Packer Productions, will serve as executive produce for the new, untitled “Girl Trip project.”
