Premium television continues to push shows with black leads. The most recent in this development comes as Showtime has ordered their latest comedy series, Black Monday. Executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the series has a Wall Street theme and is set in the 80s during one of the worst stock market crashes in history. The show builds a story around how outsiders made it all happen. Regina Hall, alongside Don Cheadle and Andrew Rannells, will star in Black Monday’s pilot of 10 episodes as “the first female head trader on the street, who’ll ride the second wave of feminism through a sea of horny millionaires”

In a statement about the announcement, Showtime president David Nevins, says, “Black Monday is a scathing comic commentary on the excess of the ’80s. Hall, Cheadle, and Rannells “lead a hilarious cast that takes on blue-blooded Wall Street as the Bad News Bears of Wall Street trading firms.”

The production for Black Monday hasn’t started but the series is set to premiere before the third quarter of 2019.
