WATCH: Behind the Scenes of ‘Queen Sugar’ Season 3 Photoshoot

One of the best shows on television, Queen Sugar, will be back for a third season for a two-night premiere on May 29th and 30th!  As we anxiously await the trailer for the third season, we have been gifted with a behind the scenes video of the season 3 photo shoot.

The photoshoot was helmed by acclaimed photographer Osborne Macharia who was personally asked by Ava DuVernay to bring an “Afrofuturism” style to the photos.  Macharia has worked on films such as Black Panther, and he worked on Queen Sugar earlier in the year.

Check out the photoshoot above!

Queen Sugar stars Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner and Kofi Siriboe as siblings trying to do right by their deceased father’s farm and legacy. That premise is of course the rural launch pad for an often-penetrating look at modern America, family bonds and issues of gender, race and class. The cast also includes Tina Lifford, Omar J. Dorsey and Dondré T. Whitfield.  The series is set in Louisiana and is based on the 2014 book of the same name by Natalie Baszile.

Be sure to tune into the season 3 premiere on May 29th and May 30th!
