MTV’s Scream is undergoing a revamp for its third season with a new cast and creative crew and Queen Latifah has been added to the bunch, as an executive producer!

To round out the creative reboot, the horror series based on the film is adding new showrunner/exec producer Brett Matthews (The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural). Joining Latifah in the team of executive producers are Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty for Flavor Unit Entertainment.

Harvey and Bob Weinstein will continue to serve as executive producers under the Dimension TV umbrella, along with exec producers Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena, Cathy Konrad and the late Wes Craven (the director or the original film). Matthew Signer and Keith Levine are producers.

Scream was renewed for a third season in October with a six-episode order, down from the respective 10- and 13-episode first and second seasons. This is the second showrunner change on the series, as Season 2 drew an avery of 377,000 viewers in Live+same day, half of the audience for Season 1.

Multi-award-winning Latifah, who has successfully crossed many industry lines, can now be Carlotta Brown in Lee Daniel’s Fox musical drama, Star. Congrats to Queen Latifah! We are sure she’ll bring a much-needed fresh new spin to the show!
