Queen Latifah (Star) and Shakim Compere’s Flavor Unit Television and Holly Carter’s Relevé Entertainment are teaming up on a Bible-themed drama entitled The Scroll and Fox is developing the project!

Based on an original idea by Carter and written by feature writer Michael Elliot (Brown Sugar, Just Wright), The Scroll will be a reimagination of some of the Bible’s most popular stories and characters, portrayed through a group of friends and colleagues. Elliot will also executive produce along with Carter’s and Latifah’s companies.

The Bible saga reincarnation, set up by 20th Century Fox TV, will be targeted for the next development season.

Carter’s Relevé Entertainment, of which she is the CEO, is behind such projects such as Oxygen’s Preachers Of… franchise and Fix My Choir as well as BET’s 106 & Gospel and The Sheards. Carter also has feature films under her belt such as The Gospel, In the Mix and A Beautiful Soul.

Latifah’s Flavor Unit has a slew of TV credits as well such as, The Rap Game, Let’s Stay Together, Single Ladies and the HBO film Bessie.

Given the powerhouse team behind this project, it is sure to be a success!
