Director/writer/producer Paula Bryant-Ellis is set to produce an upcoming web comedy series with producing partner and Insecure star Jay Ellis.  The series is titled Hard Medicine, and will stream on the subscription based service Urban Movie Channel created by Robert L. Johnson.

Hard Medicine is a workplace comedy created by Melissa Eno Effa, the series stars Nicole Slaughter as Dr. Moore, a peculiar medical doctor, working at a low-income health clinic while trying battle corporate heads and bizarre patients. With the constant chaos of her work life, Dr. Moore can’t get through the day without her loyal staff: Rose (Celest Turner), Jason (Jeff Hunt), and Alice (Ashley Narvaez).

“I’m thrilled to be working on another project with Angela Northington and her team at UMC after the release of Like Cotton Twines earlier this year,” says Ellis. “The world and characters Melissa Eno Effa has created with Hard Medicine are unique, authentic, loveable and relatable. Sharing this journey with her has made this one of my favorite projects I’ve had the opportunity to produce. We are so thankful to have UMC as the home for this new project and to share it with a larger audience.”

The first two episodes are out already, and the remaining 6 episodes will premiere weekly on UMC every Wednesday beginning Aug. 16, 2017. Be sure to tune in via
