The upcoming VH1 series, Daytime Divas, has added Patti LaBelle to the cast.  She will join Vanessa Williams (Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor), Tichina Arnold (Survivor’s Remorse), La La Anthony (Power), Tasha Smith (Empire), Eve (Barbershop), Janet Mock (TakePart Live) and more.

Inspired by the book Satan’s Sisters written by Star Jones (The View), the series revolves around the daily fireworks that erupt between the five female co-hosts of fictitious long-running talk show entitled “The Lunch Hour”. On screen, they are best friends with five very different points of view, but behind the scenes, they inhabit a world of power struggles, cat fights and cocktails.

LaBelle will play Gloria, the “sharp-tongued, fabulous, prying” mother of William (Norm Lewis’ character), who claims to know her son better than anybody else.

Daytime Divas was developed for television by Amy Engelberg and Wendy Engelberg who will also executive produce alongside  Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler (Awkward), Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva), Star Jones, Suzanne de Passe (The Temptations), Madison Jones and Susan Levison. Suzanne Coston will serve as co-executive producer. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television.
