The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) has announced that Oprah Winfrey, executive producers, and cast members will be attending the world premiere of OWN’s original drama, Greenleaf on Wednesday 4/20, 5:00 PM, John Zuccotti Theater @ BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center
The announcement today was part of an introduction to the Festival’s first annual Tribeca Tune In program, a lineup of world premieres, panel discussions, and live events dedicated to television. Tribeca Tune In features six season premieres, three sneak peeks and season finales, three conversations with key creative directors, producers, writers and actors, and four special events.
Greenleaf follows the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family with scandalous secrets and lies, and their massive Memphis megachurch with predominantly African-American members. This series will take viewers into the world of the powerful Greenleaf family where lies are abundand and centers on the journey of estranged daughter and disillusioned preacher Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge) who has returned home after 20 years on the occasion of the mysterious death of her sister, Faith. As she reenters the world of Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, the Memphis megachurch run by her powerful parents Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) and Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whitfield), it becomes evident that things are not as virtuous as they seem and that the family’s outward display of faith hides sin and misdeeds.
Oprah Winfrey will play Mavis McCready, the sister of Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynne Whitfield), as a recurring role in the series. This will be Winfrey’s first recurring scripted television role in two decades.

Greenleaf will launch with a two-night premiere at 10 PM Tuesday, May 24 and 10 PM Wednesday, May 25, and will regularly air on Wednesdays at 10 PM for the remainder of its 13-episode first season.
