Lifetime has announced that Nzingha Stewart (With this Ring) will direct and write The 10th Date which will be executive produced by Wendy Finerman (The Devil Wears Prada).  This will mark a second partnership between Stewart and Lifetime.  In 2015, Stewart was the writer and director of the Lifetime original movie With this Ring starring Regina Hall, Jill Scott, and Eve.

The 10th Date is a comedy that follows four friends who embark on an often hilarious journey to successfully get to that elusive 10th date — a holy grail in the dating world when they think a man finally feels committed. It chronicles every woman’s battles with the ups and downs of modern romance, exes and friendships while watching their other friends struggle with the realities of marriage and dating.

Stewart began making her mark in the entertainment industry as one of the hottest female music video directors in the game.  She won several awards for and shot over a hundred music videos for artists such as Joss Stone, Common, Eve, Jay-Z, Kanye West, 50 Cent, and more.

“I didn’t always want to go into film. I felt stifled or thought that I would be stifled by movies.  I didn’t think I could do a video like Bilal’s Soul Sista in black and white with African models in the film industry. But that’s not necessarily true.” – Nzingha Stewart

For Colored Girls was her feature film directorial debut, and she went on to start a production company with Gabrielle Union called Stew U with the goal of developing projects for black women.  Stewart has directed episodes of Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters, Major Crimes, and The Game.  Most recently she directed and wrote the Lifetime original movie, With This Ring, produced by Gabrielle Union and Tracey Edmonds.  The film was nominated for three NAACP Image Awards.
