Niecy Nash is set to join TNT’s hour long scripted dramady, Claws.  The series will revolve around a nail salon based in southern Florida and is described as a midnight-dark, wickedly funny meditation on female badness that follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous Floridian manicurists in the traditionally male world of organized crime.  Nash will star as Desna Simms, the owner of the salon.

Nash starred in 5 seasons of the TV One series The Soul Man, and also starred in the critically acclaimed HBO series Getting On where she received an Emmy Award nomination for her role on the show in 2015.  She was featured in Ava DuVernay’s historical film Selma, and went on to join the cast of Fox comedy series, The Mindy Project in a recurring role.  Last year, Nash was cast in the Fox comedy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine in a recurring role, and can be seen next in season 2 of the horror-comedy anthology series, Scream Queens on Fox.

Claws was originally developed as a half-hour, single-camera comedy at HBO, and under the TNT banner will be produced by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s production company, Le Train Train.  Eliot Laurence (Welcome to Me) will write and co-executive produce this project.
