Nicole Beharie has been cast to star in the remake of Adrian Lyne’s 1990’s cult classic Jacob’s Ladder alongside Jesse Williams and Michael Ealy.  Character details are being kept under wraps at this time, but it has been noted that Williams will play a major role in the remake, and according to Deadline, principal photography will begin in May.

The original film follows a psychologically damaged war veteran, and his struggle to return to normality.  The film depicted Jacob Singer’s (Tim Robbins) journey into madness through dark hallucinations and surrealism.

Beharie began her film career starring in American Violet.  She then went on to star as Jackie Robinson’s wife opposite Chadwick Boseman in the biopic 42, and played a key role in Steve McQueen’s Shame.  Most recently she starred in three seasons of Fox’s Sleepy Hollow series.

The re-adaptation of the screenplay was written by Jeff Buhler and Sarah Thorp.  Will Packer will produce through Will Packer Productions, and James F. Lopez will serve as executive producer.  Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon and Jennifer Monroe at LD Entertainment will produce alongside Alison Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta of Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films.
