Actress Nia Long has joined the cast of NCIS: Los Angeles as a series regular, Variety has confirmed. She will be introduced on the CBS crime drama in the ninth season premiere on Sunday, Oct. 1. Long will play Shay Mosley, the team’s new executive assistant director. As a former Secret Service agent, Mosley is an experienced Washington insider who brings an east coast demeanor to the west coast team.

In addition to this role, Long has been confirmed to play Terrence Howard’s wife in Life In A Year, Sony’s romantic drama starring Jaden Smith and Cara Delavigne.  She recently co-starred in Lifetime’s Beaches remake this past January, and also appeared on the big screen this year via Sundance pics Lemon and Roxanne Roxanne, the latter of which was picked up by Neon. Long also is set to topline The Goldbergs spinoff pilot, currently in the works at ABC.
