Nia Long (The Best Man, Love Jones) joins the cast of Amazon’s Hand of God alongside Brian Baumgartner.  Season 2 of the series is currently in production and will premiere later this year.  Long will play “Izzy” Williams, described as a tough but charming journalist who has a history with Mayor Robert ‘Bobo’ Boston, who will be played by Andre Royo (Empire, The Wire).

Long is a staple actress in the black television and film community, and earlier this year was celebrated at the UPTOWN Honors Hollywood pre-Oscar gala. Most of us grew up watching her perform in classic roles such as John Singleton’s Boyz n the Hood, Love Jones, The Best Man, and Big Momma’s House, Soul Food, and Boiler Room to name a few.  In addition to her numerous roles in television and film, Long appeared in the video for Kanye West’s Touch the Sky, and directed Yolanda Adams’s music video for This Too Shall Pass.  Most recently, she appeared in the Best Man Holiday, and can be seen next in the ABC television series Uncle Buck, and in the feature film Keanu opposite Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.

Hand of God is an Amazon original series that revolves around Pernell Harris, played by Ron Perlman, who is a corrupt judge who suffers a breakdown and believes God is compelling him onto a path of vigilante justice.

Ben Watkins, Marc Forster, Ron Perlman, Brian Wilkins and Jeff King are Executive Producers for the series and Jillian Kugler is co-Executive Producer.
