Academy Award nominee, Naomie Harris (Moonlight) is set to star in Brad Peyton’s (San Andreas) video game adaptation, Rampage! The film will be based on the 1986 video game of the same name and Harris will be joining Dwayne Johnson, who will portray an animal-loving hero. The script has been compared to Ghostbusters and Independence Day and Naomie has reportedly responded to the “fun” tone.

Harris will portray a “geneticist with a moral streak” as she fights off monster-sized creatures, including a wolf, gorilla, and lizard, causing destruction to major landmarks and cities. Principal photography was set to begin last summer after Johnson wrapped The Fate of the Furious; however; there was a delay and other writers were hired to re-write the script.

Peyton plans to add his touch to the script stating, “With Rampage, we are using our love of the original game as our inspiration. Then we’re going to build a movie, like San Andreas, that is really going to surprise a people in what it delivers. It’s going to be a lot more emotional, a lot scarier and a lot more real than you’d expect.”

As Harris brings a wide-range of roles under her belt (i.e. Skyfall, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, to name a few), we are sure Naomie Harris will be able to bring her magnificent acting chops to his vision!

Rampage opens in theaters April 20th, 2018.
