Warner Bros has tapped Underground creator Misha Green to write and produce the revival of the 1973 blaxploitation female empowerment film Cleopatra Jones.

The original 1973 movie starred Tamara Dobson as an undercover agent who used her job as a supermodel as a cover. A martial arts master who drove a Corvette Stingray equipped with automatic weapons, she faced off against a drug kingpin named Mommy (Shelley Winter) in an attempt to destroy the poppy plants that were supplying drugs to the inner city.

In addition to this news, Green is set to write the pilot for Lovecraft Country, a one-hour drama given straight-to-series order by HBO. Lovecraft Country will be produced by Get Out writer-director Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros Television. She is also writer and producer of the Netflix film The Mother.

Good luck to Misha Green! We wish her much success with this new project!
