Grammy award winning R&B artist Mary J. Blige is set to guest star on ABC’s third season of How To Get Away With Murder.

Details of Blige’s role and the storyline are currently under wraps, but in an interview with Deadline, series star Viola Davis mentioned there will be “a new mystery and it’s going to be presented very quickly in the first episode.” Davis added that creator Pete Nowalk “explores the relationships in a much deeper way.”

Blige made her acting debut in 1998 on the sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show and has been a guest star on shows such as Entourage, America’s Next Top Model, and 30 Rock.  She also had a supporting role in Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All by Myself and portrayed Dr. Betty Shabazz alongside Angela Basset in the Lifetime original film Betty and Coretta.  More recently Blige starred in the NBC special, The Wiz Live as the Wicked Witch of the West and will be joining the cast of Dee Rees’ (Bessie, Pariah) World War II independent drama Mudbound, based on the 2009 novel by Hillary Jordan.
