Elizabeth Banks’ upcoming reboot of the action-comedy Charlie’s Angels is reportedly in negotiations with Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o and Kristen Stweart to play the female detectives and secret agents.

The series received a reboot in the early 2000’s with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu, and was also briefly rebooted as a TV series again in 2011 with Annie Ilonzeh, Minka Kelly, and Rachael Taylor in the lead roles, but that series was canceled after four episodes.

Elizabeth Banks will be directing Charlie’s Angels after making her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2. Banks is the first female director to tackle the female-led franchise after Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts created the five-season TV series in 1976.

Earlier this year, Nyong’o appear in the TuPac biopic All Eyez On Me where she portrayed the late mother of the late rapper, Afeni Shakurand also starred in the Disney drama Queen of Katwe.  She can be seen next in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and in the highly anticipated Ryan Coogler film Black Panther scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 16, 2018.
