The Walking Dead has cast Tony-nominated actress Lauren Ridloff to in the role of the series’ first deaf actress, and will play Connie.

Ridloff, who is deaf herself, recently appeared on Broadway in Children of a Lesser God, for which she received the aforementioned Tony nod. Her character will appear in multiple episodes and she communicates via American Sign Language. The character Connie appeared in The Walking Dead comics but was not written as deaf.

We are excited for Lauren as she starts her new role on The Walking Dead.  It will be interesting to se how this character evolves on the series.
